I bought this product over 4 years ago. It was great investment. Made cleaning the tack quick and without a mess. There are a few points that I want to mention. The suction power is good as long as it is connected to a faucet with strong output of water. If the stream in the faucet is week, suction will no work as well, aerators should be removed before connecting this device to the faucet. It is great value because it can be used forever, very little chance it will brake unless you purposely mistreat it. The only reason I say 4 stars for easy to use is because connection to the sink faucet may need some work. When i bought it, the adapter that came with it did not fit my faucet well. I force it/rig it a little and never removed it; but when time came to change the faucet, i found myself without an adaptor. I looked at Home Depot like others mentioned and couldn't find one that fit. I risked buying one from Amazon and it worked! It took me some time to research and look in different places, save the time. Here is the one that fitted my faucet "Bathroom Sink Faucet snap adapter quick connect to garden hose, kitchen faucet aratored quick snap connector to 3/4 inch GHT female for washer, indoor sink quick-fit attachment". So, if you find yourself having trouble with the adapter that comes with this, check this one out. There are now lots of copies of this exact system by lots of others. But the Python brand is still the best. The hose is extra flexible and high quality, the plastic components are of very good quality, the valve is easy to actuate and seals well, and the couplings are of good quality. I have spent a lot of time and money trying to kludge together a poor man's Python. Dumb. Just buy a python.I have used the venturi adapter in the past and it works well. But my current implementation is a little different - this may be helpful to some. I only use it to gravity drain the water to the toilet. I spliced in a squeeze priming bulb from another water changer (Python's squeeze bulb is utterly useless) between the gravel vac and valve, and attached one of their water filling hooks to the other end. I put the filling hook over the toilet rim, stick the gravel vac in the tank, give the bulb squeeze, and am off to the races. Bucketless emptying at its best.I use a separate pump, hose, tank rim clamp (very handy) and valve to do the filling so that my wife or a kid can follow behind me and fill as I empty tank by tank. This system is working very well so far. And with this system, I don't have to thread anything (venturi) onto the faucet, which I would rather not do.My son has several freshwater aquariums, and he likes to perform regular water changes. It usually involves lugging lots of buckets between the tanks and the bathroom and ends up with water everywhere and most of the day gone. He convinced me to try this product and it is amazing. It hooked up easily to our bathroom tap and he was able to do all of his water changes in about a quarter of the time with NO MESS at all. This thing is fantastic! I'm a big fan and wish I had listened to him earlier when he wanted to get it a while ago. So great, I highly recommend it!Then you need one of these, like months ago. I have three tanks setup and have been manually siphoning into a bucket for as long as I can remember. My buddy sent me a video of this product in use and I instantly ordered it. My largest tank is only 55 gallons but this product is absolutely a life changer. No more fooling with buckets and spilling, no more gallon by gallon refilling the tanks, just hook it up and let it go. Just make sure that you keep an eye on the temperature of the water going back into your tank as it is easy to set it as either too hot or too cold for your fish. But overall I can't recommend this enough.People who are complaining about suction power are the people who didn’t do a little “science thinking.”Long story short, MAKE SURE your aquarium is located at a higher height than your sink faucet, or whatever else you use.If not, suction power is gonna suck, guaranteed.Anyhow, great device! Regret buying the Aqueon brand! No matter if I increased the height of my tank compared to my faucet sink, it was just too slow and wasted tons of water doing a water change on my small 15 gallon. But Python??? Clear winner, and a lot less water wasted! A lot easier to manage and it even came with its own faucet adapter! Saved me a trip to the hardware store. I even bought the “Python Hook”accessory and omg, water changes are a dream now, and totally worth the price and the 50 foot length of tubing. Never looking back!Just buy it, and don’t be like me buying off brand suckers and wasting your money and unreasonably increasing your water bill. (Unless you recycle the water to water your garden, go you! <3)This makes cleaning my 75 gallon tank so much faster and easier. It works fast draining the water, usually it takes 2 to 3 hrs before I purchased this product, now it takes less then an hour. I’m so happy I purchased itThis tool here has allowed me to clean my 4 55 gallon tanks in no time! Awesome! This product is great, makes water changes extremely convenient. I ended up breaking the flow control lever thing pretty early on (I think the suction or something was way too much), which is possibly just user error. To get all of the water out of the tube at the end I have to take it outside and wrap it up out there, since for me some of the water still sticks in the tube after running the faucet for a bit, and I don't want too much to remain in there when I put it away.Otherwise, very useful.Having owned aquariums from 90litres, through to 1000litres, I've had my eye on this for a couple of years now.I'd mainly put it off because of the price, thinking 'it cant be THAT good'...How wrong I was. This is an amazing product, albeit a simple one. It makes draining and refilling large tanks a breeze (you can even be in another room whilst doing water changes!)Once you have it connected to your tap (I had no issues with this, but I would definitely recommend the brass adaptor) draining takes a few minutes max, depending on your water pressure.Refilling is as simple as matching temperatures from the tap to your tank, and twisting the bottom ring to change it to fill mode. That's it.My only regret with this, is that I didnt buy it two years ago! If it broke today, I'd definitely buy another one.If you have an aquarium over 150litres, I'd absolutely recommend the Python. You will not be disappointed. If this helped you in any way, I'd appreciate if you clicked the little thumbs up :)I was very sceptical about this product as I hated the idea of whooshing a load of untreated tap water into my tank! And I was right! As a siphon it works well and saves the horrible task of lugging a bucket back and forth which is great. But when I filled my tank I was a bit alarmed at the strong flow of water coming in and even though I added a good dose of treatment to the water as I filled up I found my Keyhole Cichlids lying at the bottom of the tank for hours afterwards which they had never done changing water with a bucket. My Corys and Neons also looked a little off.I figured that next time I'd reduce the flow from my tap but this makes getting the right temperature harder on my taps. So I had a brain wave and found that a spare old powerhead I had could be fitted to the inlet. I then filled my large bucket in my sink and made sure the temperature was right and then added the treatment. I then dropped the powerhead and inlet into the bucket and with the other end over my tank I switched the pump on. This filled my tank nice and slowly without disturbing anything and with nice safe treated water. This is how I'll use it as, although I know some people say it will be fine to use tap water directly, my fish didn't like it. The white plastic tap adapter that comes with it, which I need to use, isn't the best quality and I'm sure will need replaced at some point. I'll see if I can get a brass one. Other than that this is a great thing to have and does make water changes easier. But the price is just plain robbery. I mean seriously it's a hose and some plastic...£35.00 tops is what it should be..This is the second one of this product I’ve brought. First brought it from a pet shop over 20 years ago and was so glad when I was able to replace it. It may seem a lot of money but the best product for cleaning out your fish tank without the back breaking work of bucketing water from the tank. I have a mixer tap as you can see in the picture, so if you have one like this you will need to get extra attachments - these are the black parts you can see in the picture. I kept mine from my old python which fitted the new one really well. Cleaning the tank was a dream as normal, painless. Would highly recommend this product. Looking at purchasing another one for my son ti clean his fish tank. This product quite simply has made my aquarium hobby easy!I simply attach the connector from the 6m (maybe 7m?) hose to my tap (I had to purchase a separate brass adapter), and the vacuum created draws water from the aquarium down the sink. Then to refill water to the aquarium I simply switch the valve position and water goes from the tap to the aquarium - I put in an appropriate water conditioner to the aquarium water during this process and the tap I use allows for the correct temperature. I have been using this for about 2 years and if I had to do the whole manual syphon with a hose and empty buckets thing, I would have packed it in.I have a 200ltr aquarium, so the water change with the python makes it quick and very easy. Good for siphoning the substrate too.I have attached a photo to show that my aquarium is in good condition and the fish are super healthy. I will provide an update with a video of the python in use when I next do a water change.Pros: - long hose - easy set up - quick to drain and return water - shut off valve at nozzle end - nozzle is large and provides visibility of what is being vacuumedCons: - expensive for what it is but definitely worth the money - lack of adapters. The plastic adapter works but is not greatI hope this helps. Happy water changing! This is such a handy contraption. I must say it does indeed seem a bit overpriced, however, finding the appropriate adapter, faucet switch, length of hose, a matching vac hose, and the stop valve to create your own would be such a hassle, and possibly quite expensive as well. There's a super convenient stop switch at the hoover end, as well as one on the sink end, and it's a lifesaver that the hoover ended one is right on hand to either pause hoovering or pause refilling. It's nice that this has been pre-configured, all set and ready to go. I'm pretty sure what you're paying for is the design of this product, not the materials. It's competitors are all in a similar price range as well.I used it for the first time today. I quickly found the correct screw-on adapter for our kitchen faucet, hooked it up and played around with it to figure out what all the bits do, and I was promptly able to begin my water change. So long as your aquarium is higher up than your faucet, this thing has some SERIOUS suction power. It hoovered 14 litres in about 2 minutes. I'll have to remember to turn the tap down so it's slower next time! Refilling was just as simple. I spent most of the time just getting the water temp right coming out of the faucet before flipping the refill switch, and the rest was a breeze. The whole process is pretty quick, especially compared to the bucket method. We have a separate hot water tank for our mixer tap, and the fish are not bothered at all from any hot water tank contaminants, which was one of my concerns with this. Also remember to dechlorinate your tank for the replacement amount BEFORE pumping in the tap water, otherwise your fish my get some exposure to the chlorine coming in. I personally use seachem prime, which takes care of any heavy metals plus other bits too.Over all a great product, well designed and I'm quite happy with it.
