Followed instructions to the letter and, other than a tentacle getting minorly caught in the motor once in a while (and an easy fix), have had zero issues. Kids LOVE it and I let them take turns choosing which color(s) are on each night. Didn't realize it turns off after 4 hours of being plugged in but no biggie. Haven't bothered with batteries.
